This book though: The Book Thief

It burned a 'Book Thief' shape on my chest.

#book-hangover

I came know of this book as I gradually became interested in books about books. The title interested me very much. I researched about it and found out it was a fictional story set in the Holocaust, 1939 Nazi Germany. This only added to my interest and curiosity.

First and foremost, this is no diary of Anne Frank. Although The Book Thief does deserve a space beside The Diary of A Young Girl; they are completely different books.
For one thing, Anne Frank told her own story through entries of her diary, while the book thief, Liesel Meminger's story was told through the personified, Death [how fitting, don't you think?].

Towards the end, I could not help but ask, what is wrong with us? What was wrong with humanity?

In a famous story from the Bible, God made the lands disappear with a horrific storm. Only Noah, his family, a select few believers, and some animals were saved. Everybody else, presumably all the bad people, not worthy to be saved in the arc, drowned. God taught an unforgettable lesson that day. But he also promised that he would not do it again.

“Never again will I curse the ground because of humans, even though every inclination of the human heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done."

Now, this is the part where I find myself confused. Didn't he promise not to devastate the earth and the human race ever again? or Did he just promise to not make it rain again that hard?

I'm basically blaming God at this point, wow! (Me, editing this in the year 2020, hi!)

Every single thing in this world, in this life, is so gray. It hurts to even think about. I get so angry I could just burst into flames [forgive the expression].

...and ranting (still me, in 2020)

Did humanity do something really awful back then that a 'storm-like' Hitler could ravage the world?
Was Hitler a punishment to the world that did not do as well with God's expectation?

A true believer would say: It is not God's fault. It is man's.

"Nasa Diyos ang awa, nasa tao ang gawa." [Man must do, God will save.]

I don't know about that.
I personally, don't know anymore.

Nothing but gray haze. A compass, maybe, could help but you have to make sure it works.

There is one thing I know for sure: Nothing is ever over. The stories will keep on coming. The Jews', the Germans', the Russians', etc. All the stories will be heard because ALL have something to say. In time, all will be read and will then be realized.

Was I just predicting Katy Perry's future single? (still here, editing in 2020)

They will not be forgotten. Ever.
